AU History: He and his twin brother Shinji were orphaned after losing their parents in a house fire at a young age. Much like his twin, he too blames his own helplessness for his parents' loss. It left an impact on Kazuma so much, it becomes a driving factor for him to reach out and help whoever is in need of it.
After the fire, the twins were taken into Lumino Orphanage and eventually Kazuma was taken in by the Kenzaki family, while Shinji by the Kendates. He wasn't too happy about being separated from his twin at first, but thanks to Shinji's adoptive parents he was able to keep in contact with his twin for a long while.
Unlike Shinji with the Kendates, Kazuma had a a different upbringing with the Kenzakis, as they lived a rather simple life. Mr. Kenzaki was merely a store clerk, while his foster mother Mrs. Kenzaki remains at home as a housewife. His life was not always as smooth as Shinji's but he's happy with the company of the Kenzakis thanks to their warm and welcoming kindness.
Years later after graduating, with no idea where his path might take him, Kazuma resorts to taking up various jobs along the way. But his luck turns for the worse as the company he works for filed for bankruptcy and at the same time was kicked out of his old apartment after failing to pay 3 months of rent. Eventually he found himself a job at a biotech firm as a security guard, and soon enough found a vacant room for him to move into.
